Travel Clinic
Travel Vaccinations
We provide comprehensive travel advice. If you are planning holidays abroad, you should check with us well before you are due to travel so that we can make sure that any necessary immunisation is competed in time. You may be denied admission to some countries if you are not fully immunised.
Booking a Travel Health Assessment Appointment
Travel health telephone assessment appointments with our Practice Nurse are available to any patient who is planning a trip abroad. During your telephone appointment the Nurse will provide you with all the latest travel health information for the country(ies) you plan to visit. The Nurse will also discuss with you the need for any appropriate vaccinations.
Travel health assessment appointments should be booked at least 6 weeks prior to travel to ensure a full course of the appropriate vaccination can be administered if any are required.
Some travel vaccinations are not included in the normal services provided under the NHS and are therefore deemed ‘private’ (chargeable). Due to Government changes with effect from 31st July 2019 our nurses we will no longer be able to administer any private (chargeable) travel vaccinations. If private vaccinations are suggested the nurse will signpost you to an appropriate private provider to enable you to obtain these vaccines.
Please ensure you complete the travel health questionnaire at least a week before your telephone assessment appointment.

Travelling in Europe
Your rights & EU rules
If you are travelling to Europe the EU has published useful information for travellers on the European website.
As an EU national, you enjoy the right of free movement. This means you’re entitled to travel, work and live in another EU country. If you’re a citizen of a Schengen country – which is most EU countries – you’re also free to travel to other Schengen countries without the need for border checks.
As an EU national, you can also benefit from EU-wide passenger rights for travel into, out of or within the EU by air, rail, bus/coach or ship. You can travel with pets and other animals in the EU provided you comply with the rules (pet passports). There are EU limits on taking alcohol, tobacco or cash with you to another EU country. Each EU country can set its own limits or restrictions, so check before you go.
